DETROIT – The Wayne State University women's tennis team improved 12-3 overall on Friday, as the Warriors on their second spring contest 7-1 over Northwestern Ohio.
Wayne State earned a sweep in the doubles flight and lost one singles contest, with senior
Liz Ghellere's (Ararangua, Brazil) fourth singles flight match with Melena Lopez going unfinished.

Junior
Dasha Kuznetsova (Moscow, Russia) and freshman
Khadija Da-Silva (Burlington, Ont. / Robert Bateman S.S.) earned an 8-2 win over Alisa Reshentnikova and Valeirya Kolegova. Senior
Andreea Mitrache (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Warren Cousino) and Ghellere paired to defeat Lopez and Camilia Puente, 8-4. In the final doubles contest, two freshmen,
Linda Liong (Tanjung Kidurong, Malaysia)and
Brianna Douglas (Dayton, Ohio / Chaminade Julienne) earned an 8-0 sweep over Naa Ankrah and Frederique Span.
SINGLES RESULTS
Mitrache met Reshentnikova a at No. 1 singles, with the Racer getting the point thanks to a retire.
Kuznetsova played in the second flight winning 6-2, 6-2 over Puente.
Da -Silva faced off with Kolegova and earned a 6-1, 6-0 triumph.
Liong and Ankrah faced off at No. 5, with the Warrior getting the best of the outcome thanks to the Racer retiring down 6-0, 3-0.
Junior
Astrid Ciellza (Tecumseh, Ont. / St. Anne's S.S.) won 7-5, 6-4 over Span.
UP NEXT
The Green & Gold will hit the road for the next four matches, traveling to Florida starting next Thursday. The Warriors will begin the southern swing with an 8:15 p.m. meeting with Radford.
