Laker Men's Basketball Face Setback at Wisconsin-Parkside

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) men's basketball team (4-2, 0-1 GLIAC) fell in their GLIAC opener on the road against the Rangers of Wisconsin-Parkside (5-3, 1-0 GLIAC) by a final score of 66-50 on Thursday.

Kingsley Perkins (Ypsilanti, Mich.) wasted no time giving the Lakers a 4-0 lead with a pair of baskets in the post. The Rangers were able to take the lead, but the Lakers fought back with a 12-3 run behind multiple baskets from Tyson Edmondson (Ypsilanti, Mich.) and Omar Suleiman (Canton, Mich.) to go back up 18-15. However, despite a three from Devin Womack (Ypsilianti, Mich.), Parkside was able to retake the lead going into halftime.

Both teams battled early in the second half as Hunter Soper (Lexington, Mich.) converted back-to-back buckets, but it was the defenses that would truly begin to steal the show with neither team able to find much rhythm. However, the Rangers were able to pull away late to secure the victory.

Despite the loss, Perkins and Edmondson led the way offensively, each scoring in double digits with 15 and 12 points respectively.

The Lakers will look to bounce back on Saturday, Dec. 9 when they travel to take on the Purdue Northwest Pride with tipoff scheduled for 4 p.m.
