Dragons hang tough in 73-69 win at Lake Erie

Red-hot shooting and some clutch shooting in the final minute helped give Tiffin University (10-12, 6-9 GLIAC) a much-needed road win at Lake Erie.

The Dragons fired at a 59 percent clip from the field, one of their best shooting nights of the season, while the Storm hit at a 40 percent average.TU also controlled the rebounding 32-27.

TU opened the game on fire, streaking out to a 17-6 lead in the first 7 minutes, but the Storm responded with their own 16-4 burst that put them up a point midway through the opening half.

With Lake Erie holding a 36-28 lead with just 3:00 left in the first half, the Dragons closed strong, ripping off a 10-0 run to take a 38-36 lead into the break.

TU continued the hot streak to start the final 20 minutes, once again putting up a 17-8 scoring edge to push their lead to 11. The Dragons maintained their lead throughout the second half but the Storm were not finished yet.

Lake Erie made a push in the final 3:00 and trailed by just one point with a minute left on the clock. But TU held their composure, as a Juwan Johnson layup followed by a Mohammed Rage block and rebound leading to a thunderous dunk by Austin Adams put the game away with 6 seconds to play.

Adams had another big game, totaling 24 points with 10 rebounds and 4 assists, while Khaleal McCormick also added 20 points and 4 assists. 

Alex Brown had 10 points, as did Rage along with 5 rebounds. Johnson finished with 7 points and 7 rebounds.
