Dragons comeback falls short 4-2

Tiffin University (2-12, 1-7 GLIAC) battled back from a three-goal deficit, scoring two second half goals but coming up short in a 4-2 loss to Saginaw Valley State at Paradiso Fields.

The first half was rough for the Dragons, who were outshot 12-2 and allowed two goals both off of set plays. They fell behind in the 26th minute on a header off a corner kick before surrendering another goal in the 41st minute off a kick from a header in the box.

The Cardinals made it 3-0 in the 60th minute off a goal struck top right off a centering pass as the Cardinals looked to put the game away. But the Dragons were not done.

TU got on the board in the 66th minute when Valerie Brown took Adrianna Currie's free kick and scored to make it 3-1.

TU then shocked the Cardinals with another goal moments later in the 68th minute when Currie took a loose ball and struck it  home to suddenly cut the Cardinals' lead to one goal.

The Cardinals held off the Dragons, though, getting an insurance goal in the 89th minute off a rebounded shot to put the game away.

SVSU outshot TU 21-10, though TU battled the Cardinals to a 9-8 score in shots in the second half. The Cardinals also held a dominating 11-0 edge in corner kicks.

Samantha Ortenzi made 5 saves in goal for TU over 90 minutes.
