HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- The fifth-ranked Wayne State University softball team (1-3 overall) suffered a pair of losses on day two Saturday of the 2015 Charger Chillout. The Warriors allowed two runs in the top of the seventh to fall 2-1 to Bellarmine (1-2) in the opener, then North Alabama (5-0) blanked WSU 9-0 in game two.
In game one, Wayne State took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth as starting pitcher
Lyndsay Butler (Cambridge, Ont. / Centennial C.V.I.) singled up the middle and went to second on a ground out. Designated player
Shelby Spano (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Stevenson) laced a double down the left field line plating Butler.
The Warriors had just three other singles in the game by Butler, senior
Emily Bryce (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester Adams) and freshman
Kristen Lucas (Newmarket, Ont. / Mulock Secondary School).
The Knights, who were limited to three hits in the first six innings, had a one-out double in the seventh by Tabby Shewmaker. After a WSU fielding error followed by a strikeout, Ally Foster delivered a two-run double to right center.
Butler (0-2), who did not allow an earned run for the second consecutive game in the circle, suffered the loss despite 10 strikeouts to one walk.
Alicia Miller recorded the victory for Bellarmine. She struck out two and did not walk a batter.

North Alabama out-hit the Warriors 10-5 in Saturday's nightcap.
The Lions scored once in the third, added two more in both the fourth and sixth frames, before tacking on four runs in the seventh.
Bryce went 2-for-3 to lead the Warriors.
Wayne State will conclude play at the Charger Chillout on Sunday with contests against GLVC foes Kentucky Wesleyan at 9 a.m. and Indianapolis at 11 a.m.
