The Malone University softball team dropped a pair of games to non-conference opponent Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN on Saturday night by the final scores of 11-3 and 11-3.
The Pioneers will host their first home softball doubleheader on Tuesday, March 17, at 3:00 p.m. against non-conference opponent West Liberty University if the weather permits.

Alexa Holztrager started the Pioneers off with a double to center field in the top of the first inning and then later successfully stole third base. Teammate
Emily Beck drove home Holztrager off an error to get Malone on the board. Hosts Trevecca Nazarene scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 3-1 lead.Â
The Trojans continued with the momentum collecting a solo homerun in the bottom of the third inning and then blasting a two-run homerun to make the score 6-1. Â Â

Emily Isla scored in the top of the fourth inning off a double from first basemen
Allison Mercado to add another tally for the Pioneers.
The Trojans would register three more homeruns over the remainder of the game, a solo in the fifth and a pair of two-run homeruns in the sixth inning to seal the victory 11-3.

Holztrager finished the game going 2-for-4 at the plate, while Mercado went 2-for-3.

Mikayla Fowler  racing home on a single from Holztrager. The Trojans would score in the bottom of the second inning to tie the game at 2-2.
Trevecca Nazarene scored six runs in the third inning, which included a two-run homerun and a three-run homerun. In the fifth inning, they tallied three more runs to seal the 11-3 victory.
Holztrager collected her first solo homerun in the top of the fifth inning to score again for the Pioneers.
