The Tiffin University baseball team kept the bats hot in Detroit, pummeling the Wayne State Warriors to the tune of 14-6. The Dragons pounded out three doubles, a triple, and a home run.

A single and a walk put two runners aboard in the top of the 1st. After a pair of outs were recorded, Ryan Thomas singled home the Dragons' first run of the game with a hot shot to center field to make it 1-0. In the top of the 3rd, Thomas was back at it again, stepping in the box with one on and two outs. Ryan smoked a one strike heater deep to right field, clearing the wall to give Tiffin a 3-0 lead.

Wayne State tied the score in the bottom half of the 3rd, but the Tiffin offense kept right on rolling in the top of the 4th. A bases loaded walk to John Heckman gave Tiffin a 4-3 lead. Alec McCurry then plated a pair with a single to center field to make it 6-3. Thomas made sure he got in on the act as well, plating the final run of the frame with a ground out to give Tiffin a 7-3 lead.

The Dragons blew the game open in the top of the 5th, using a Heckman double to score two runs to make it 9-3 Tiffin. McCurry made it an even 10-3 with a run scoring single to center field. The Warriors pulled closer with three runs in the bottom half of the inning, but Tiffin was not quite done at the plate.

A Wayne State error allowed Tiffin to score an unearned run and make it 11-6. Zach Campbell led off the 7th with a triple, and abruptly scored on a Heckman single to make it 12-6 Tiffin. McCurry then smacked a double to center field to score Heckman and give the Dragons a 13-6 advantage. Jack Dennis pushed McCurry homeward with a single to right field to give Tiffin a 14-6 lead.

That was the end of the scoring for both sides, as the Dragons' bullpen shut out the Warriors over the final three innings to secure a 14-6 win.

At the plate Ryan Thomas was the man for the Dragons, finishing with two hits and six runs batted in. John Heckman stayed hot as well, finishing with three hits and four runs batted in to bring his two day total to six hits and 10 runs batted in. Alec McCurry was another key contributor for Tiffin, finishing with four runs batted in.

The combination of Brady Ward and Deylen Miley were strong down the stretch for the Dragons on the mound, combining to hurl four shutout innings.

The Dragons moved to 10-18 overall and 4-9 in the GLIAC.
