Dragons Narrowly Fall in Five Sets

The Tiffin University volleyball team narrowly fell on Tuesday night, falling in five sets to the Ashland University Eagles.

Set one was a razor thin win for Ashland, winning 29-27. Tiffin had the opportunity to clinch the set three different times, but were unable to close the deal. Set two was just as close, with the Dragons and Eagles tied at 16-16 late in the set. The Eagles made a quick 4-0 run to distance themselves from Tiffin, and win the set 25-20. Down two sets, Tiffin found themselves fighting for their lives. The Dragons made two five point runs in the third set, and eventually defeated the Eagles 25-18. Still fighting to stay alive, Tiffin needed to keep momentum on their side. With the score tied at 7-7, the Dragons made their move, using a 5-0 run to jump ahead 12-7. An Alexandria Miglin kill gave the Dragons a 25-21 set four win. In the fifth and final set, Tiffin found themselves down 5-1 in a blink of an eye. After a TU timeout, the Dragons closed the gap to 8-5, but couldn't get any closer, falling 15-11.

As a team, Tiffin hit at a .155 clip, converting 63 kills in 193 attempts. Tiffin was led by Danielle Hicks with a career high 14 kills. Alexandria Miglin added 13 kills, Olivia Cobb totaled 12 kills, and Jenna Huffman and Kasey Adelsperger each chipped in with 11 kills. Emily Weithman secured 59 assists, and Taylor Lattimore accumulated 34 digs.
