Cavaliers Slip By Dragons 87-86

The Tiffin University men's basketball team fell on Saturday afternoon to the Walsh University Cavaliers 87-86.

Walsh rolled out of the gate, and before Tiffin knew it held a 23-12 lead. Tiffin stopped the bleeding, and made a run of their own, rolling forward on an 11-0 run to tie the game at 23-23. Tiffin kept the pressure on Walsh, taking their first lead at 31-29 with an Alex Brown triple. Tiffin finished the half on a 7-4 run to lead 38-33 at halftime.

Tiffin's lead didn't last long once the 2nd half started, as the Cavaliers used a 15-7 run over a seven minute stretch to lead 48-45 with 12:53 to play. Tiffin tied the score for the 9th time just 52 seconds later at 51-51, but Walsh went on the offensive. The Cavaliers motored ahead on a 17-7 run to take a ten point lead.The Dragons never gave up, charging back from every deficit, especially in the closing minutes of the game. In the last 02:30 of the game, Tiffin pulled to within a point of tying the score five different times, but were unable to get a defensive stop. Zac Carter carried Walsh down the stretch, scoring or assisting on 11 points in the final two minutes, leading the Cavaliers to a 87-86 victory.

Alex Brown was a force off the bench for Tiffin, scoring 22 points on 9 of 15 shooting. Tony Kynard finished with 18 points, Austin Adams added 15, Khaleal McCormick chipped in with 14 points, and Juwan Johnson added 13 points.

Tiffin falls to 11-16 overall and 6-13 in the GLIAC.
