SANFORD, Fla. -- The Wayne State University baseball program (9-3 overall) played twice on Sunday against Minnesota Duluth (3-4 overall) on day two of the team's trip to Florida. The Warriors dropped game one 5-4 in a back-and-forth affair before winning 7-1 in game two to earn the split.
GAME ONE (L, 4-5)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Redshirt sophomore hunter DeLanoy (Hartland, Mich.) gave WSU a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI groundout before sophomore
Davis Graham (Grosse Pointe, Mich. / Grosse Pointe South) singled home the inning's second run.
UMD tied the game at 2-2 with a pair of runs on two hits in the top of the second inning. The Bulldogs broke the tie with a run in the top of the fifth aided by a Wayne State error.
DeLanoy homered to right field to even the score at 3-3 after five innings. In the sixth inning, redshirt senior
Robert Iacobelli (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Brother Ric) gave the Green & Gold a 5-4 advantage with a sacrifice fly to left field.
An inside-the-park home run pushed UMD ahead 5-4 in the top of the seventh inning and Wayne State was unable to create any offense in the bottom of the seventh.
AT THE PLATE
DeLanoy went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored, while redshirt sophomore
Chris Tanderys (Livonia, Mich. / Stevenson) finished with two hits and a run scored.
ON THE MOUND
Junior
Brennan Cox (Taylor, Mich. / Riverview Gabriel Richard) (1-2) allowed five runs (three earned) in seven innings to go with a career-best 12 strikeouts.
GAME TWO (W, 7-1)
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Warriors jumped out a 2-0 lead on a two-run double from sophomore
Noah Miller (Macomb, Mich. / University Liggett) in the top of the second inning. An error in the third inning allowed a third run to cross. Wayne State took a 6-0 lead after three runs scored in the fourth inning, including two on a single by junior
Jacob Finkbeiner (Saline, Mich.).
UMD used a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to score its first and only run of the game.
Junior
Michael MacLean (Bloomfield Hills, Mich. / Country Day / The Lawrenceville School) drove in WSU's seventh run of the game with a single to left field.
AT THE PLATE
Both DeLanoy and MacLean had two hits, while Finkbeiner and Miller drove in two runs a piece.
ON THE MOUND

Nick O'Dea (Livonia, Mich. / Detroit Catholic Central) (1-0) worked six innings and allowed one run on seven hits to go with five punch outs. Redshirt junior
Brendan Bilkovic (West Bloomfield, Mich.) pitched the final frame and did not allow a run and struck out two batters.
