Dragons dropped in double overtime

The Tiffin University women's soccer team played a tough road game this afternoon, falling to the Northern Michigan University Wildcats 2-1 in double overtime.

The Wildcats struck first, scoring in the 8th minute to lead 1-0. The Dragons tied the score in the 26th minute, with Leanne Tobin finding the net with a shot to the upper left hand corner. 

At the end of the 1st half, the Wildcats held a slight 8-7 advantage in shots, and the two teams each attempted three corner kicks.

There was plenty of action in the 2nd half, but the two teams stayed neck and neck through the 2nd half. Northern Michigan attempted 16 shots, and the Dragons took 13 shots. Tiffin's Samantha Ortenzi saved seven shots in the half, totaling 15 for the game. 

In the first overtime, Northern Michigan fired four shots, with Ortenzi denying the Wildcats on all attempts. The two teams needed another overtime to decide the contest, and the Wildcats ended the game in the 101st minute, firing a low shot past the Dragons' goalkeeper to seal the deal.

Samantha Ortenzi made 15 saves, facing 17 total shots. Leanne Tobin scored the Dragons' lone goal, with the assist going to Adrianna Currie

Tiffin drops to 3-13 overall and 1-8 in GLIAC play.
