Tiffin drops Millersville, falls to Lock Haven

The Tiffin University softball team went 1-1 on Saturday, beating Millersville 3-1 and falling to Lock Haven 6-2.

Tiffin wasted little time in their contest with the Marauders, plating a run in their first at bat. Kate-Lynn Urgo singled with one out, and moved to second after Allyson Rock was hit by a pitch. Urgo bolted to the plate on Haley Kobie's single to give Tiffin a 1-0 lead. Tiffin played add on in the 3rd, scoring another run on a hit and a Millersville error. Jamie Sevenish singled with one out, and raced around the bases to score on the Marauders' mishap.

An inning later, the Dragons plated their final run of the game. In the 4th inning, Sierra Besser-Paul belted a leadoff triple and scored on Alayna Lytle's single to give Tiffin a 3-0 lead.

On the mound, Tiffin turned to the wily veteran Kimmy Reynolds to take care of business. Reynolds went the distance for Tiffin, tossing seven innings, surrendering three hits, and one run while striking out seven.

At the plate, Tiffin collected seven hits and six walks.Alayna Lytle led the way with a 2 for 3 performance and a run batted in.

Tiffin vs. Lock Haven

Looking for their 4th straight win, the Dragons ran into early trouble against the Bald Eagles. 

After a quiet 1st inning from both sides, Lock Haven exploded for four runs on three hits and two errors in the 2nd inning. Tiffin responded with a run in their half of the 3rd, cutting their deficit to 4-1. Libby Crow singled and then stole second to put a runner in scoring position. Kate-Lynn Urgo walked, and Crow came around to score on a passed ball. 

The Bald Eagles scored single runs in the 3rd and 6th to take a 6-1 lead. The Dragons last run came in the 6th, with Alayna Lytlepunching a run scoring single into the outfield to score Gabrielle Hess.

On the mound, Tiffany Snell took the loss, allowing five earned runs over the course of the game. At the plate, Tiffin managed only five hits, with Lytle recording the only RBI.

The Dragons are now 10-11 overall and will be back in action on March 17.
