Walk-off slam leads TU to victory

Tiffin University (7-10) finished their Florida spring trip with a stunning comeback against Missouri-St. Louis, as a walkoff grand slam ended it in a 7-3 victory. TU then dropped their final game 3-2 to Le Moyne in a narrow decision.

Against the Tritons, TU opened the scoring, as Libby Crowsingled, moved up on Jamie Sevenish's single, then stole third base and home to put TU up 1-0.

In the second inning, UMSL used a walk and home run to jump ahead 2-1. They then followed that up with another home run in the fifth inning to take a 3-1 lead.

TU's huge rally came in the bottom of the 7th. Brooke Lambertreached on a fielder's choice followed by Kate-Lynn Urgo's single. Crow then singled for an RBI.

With two outs, Amanda Rock walked to load the bases.Samantha Ringwalt's RBI single tied the game 3-3 and set the stage for Sierra Besser-Paul, who drilled the walk off grand slame home run and give TU the 7-3 comeback victory.

Tiffany Snell got the win, tossing 7 innings and fanning 8 while allowing 8 hits and 3 earned runs.

Besser-Paul had 3 hits with a home run and 4 RBI, while Crow added 3 hits and an RBI. Urgo had 2 hits, while Ringwalt also had an RBI.

In the nightcap, the long ball plagued the Dragons. TU got on the board first, as Urgo was hit by a pitch, advanced to second on a ground out and then scored on Michelle Poe's single.

Le Moyne answered in the bottom of the first with a solo home run to tie it in their first at-bat. They added solo shots in the fourth and 5th innings to take a 3-1 lead.

TU got a run back in the 6th inning, as three errors by the Le Moyne second baseman led to a TU run. Jamie Sevenish reached on an error, then stole second base. Another error on a Besser-Paul grounder moved Sevenish to third. After Besser-Paul stole second, the third error of the inning allowed Sevenish to cross the plate and make it a one-run game. With Besser-Paul in scoring position, Alayna Lytle grounded out to first base to end the threat.

In the 7th, Urgo singled with two outs but TU could not get her home, as Crow popped out to third base to end the game.

Kimmy Reynolds took the loss, pitching 4.1 innings and allowing 4 hits and 3 earned runs. April Bennett finished up with 1.2 innings of hitless relief.

Poe had an RBI while TU totaled just 5 singles in the game.
