Dragons upend Wildcats in four sets

The Tiffin University volleyball team took care of business on Friday night, defeating the Northern Michigan University Wildcats in four sets.

It wasn't pretty on either side, with a total of 20 service errors, but Tiffin used the home crowd to jump ahead early. The Dragons, tied at 8-8, used a 17- 9 run to make quick work of the Wildcats 25-17. Northern Michigan woke up in the 2nd set, narrowly escaping with a 25-21 set win. Tiffin and Northern Michigan went back and forth in the 3rd set, being separated by less than three points for the majority of the time. TU, trailing 23-21, took a timeout and then rallied to tie the score at 23-23. The Dragons went on to win the set 26-24 with a Kasey Adelsperger kill being the set winner. The fourth set had many turns and twists to it, with Tiffin racing ahead early to lead 11-6. The Wildcats would not go quietly, clawing back within two points at 22-20. Tiffin then used a 3-0 run to seal the deal, 25-20.

The Dragons were led by Jenna Huffman with 13 kills. Kasey Adelsperger added 12 kills, and Olivia Cobb chipped in with 10. The defensive specialist, Taylor Lattimore, added 30 digs, and Emily Weithman piled up 49 assists.

The win moves the Dragons to 7-4 overall and 1-2 in GLIAC play. Tiffin will be back in action tomorrow afternoon, hosting Michigan Tech University at 2:00 pm.
