Oilers Tame Timberwolves

The University of Findlay volleyball team traveled to Midland, Mich. on Friday, October 7 for a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) matchup with the Northwood University Timberwolves.  The Oilers defeated the Timberwolves 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-17) to improve to 11-5 on the season and 7-1 in the GLIAC.

Junior Nickyla Garverick and senior Hannah Tong led the Oilers as each one reached the double digit kill plateau.  Garverick finished the match with a team high 13 kills and led the team at the net defensively with four total blocks.

Tong recorded 10 kills for Findlay and was also a force defensively with three blocks.  Sophomore Amanda Winner had four serving aces and contributed with nine digs.

Sophomore Kara Scherger continued to set the tone in the back row for the Orange and Black.  She ended the match with a team best 21 digs.  Sophomore Hailee Olson recorded 30 assists in the match.

Findlay returns back in action on Saturday, October 8 with another GLIAC road trip.  They will take on Hillsdale College at 2:00 p.m.
