CONDORDIA ST. PAUL GOLDEN BEARS(7-9 ALL, 4-8 GLIAC/5th)

2019 Concordia St. Paul Preview

Concordia-St. Paul’s third year of women’s lacrosse will be led by first year head coach Heather Coppola
who brings experience at all three NCAA divisions as well as the prep level to the thriving CSP program.
The Fulton, New York native spent the previous season as Concordia’s top assistant and offensive
coordinator.

She hired three-time All-ODAC (Old Dominion Athletic Conference) defender Summer Fowler as the
program’s graduate assistant to coach the defense. Additionally, Coppola brought in former Ms.
Minnesota Lacrosse Lydia Sutton, who led The Blake School to five straight MSHSL state championships
as one of the most decorated prep players in the state’s history before playing for USC where she was
an All-Pac 12 performer for the Trojans and an All-America Third Team selection.

With the new staff in place, the Golden Bears also boast continuity with 10 players entering their third
year together in the program (nine juniors, one redshirt sophomore) along with six sophomores and six
freshmen. For the second straight year, the team will have one senior, as well.

Concordia is led by its three returning All-GLIAC Second Team selections, juniors Katie Lottsfeldt, Maddie
Hentges and Sara Stickler. Lottsfeldt is a two year starting goalie who picked up the program’s first-ever
GLIAC Player of the Week honor last year and finished the year ranked third in the league with a .437
save percentage. Stickler has been a mainstay on the defensive side for Concordia and has already made
31 career starts. She was ranked eighth in the league with a team-best 21 caused turnovers in 2018 and
added 23 ground balls. Hentges became Concordia’s first 100-point career scorer midway through her
sophomore season and finished the year with 60 points on 41 goals and 19 assists. With 53 points as a
freshman and 60 as a sophomore, she holds the top two marks for total points in a season, has the first
and third most assists and second and third most goals in a season.

The team captains are juniors Cassidy Leininger, Kylie Christensen, Hentges and Lottsfeldt along with
redshirt sophomore Katie Moynihan.

CSP opens play with five non-conference road games including #4 Lindenwood and will play its home
opener in the Concordia Dome at Sea Foam Stadium on March 15 against #17 Grand Valley State in its
GLIAC opener. Concordia’s 2019 schedule features just five home games with three in the dome and two
outdoors at Sea Foam Stadium.

In the first two years, the Golden Bears have produced a 15-17 overall record including last season’s 4-8
fifth place finish in their first year as GLIAC affiliate members.
