2018 Parkside Preview

Parkside baseball is set to open the 2019 season as a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for the first time in program history under seventh year head coach Daniel Esposito (69-170). The Rangers officially open on Friday. Feb. 15 with a 3-game series at Indianapolis.

Parkside returns its top six pitchers in terms of innings pitched from last season, including Nicholas Rana, who was Third Team All-Conference last season. Connor Cunningham returns as well after finished right behind Rana in innings pitched and strikeouts. Rana went 4-3 last season with a 3.96 ERA and threw five complete games. The Rangers also return Hunter Weddel (35.2 IP, 7.07 ERA) and Jake Macaluso (19.0 IP, 4.74 ERA). Redshirt-seniors Mason Martin and Keaton Kastberg also return to the rotation after redshirting last year.

Offensively, the teams returns a good amount of young players who got valuable experience last season, including Weddel, Dominic Esposito and Paul Weise. The team also brings back senior Justin Bennett and Lane Ochs, who stated 32 and 25 games last season, respectively.
