WAYNE STATE WARRIORS (27-21 ALL, 15-12 GLIAC/4th)

2019 Wayne State Preview

Wayne State will look to return to the NCAA Tournament after missing it in 2018 following a 27-21 overall record. The Warriors finished fourth in the GLIAC at 15-12 and dropped a pair of nail-biters in the GLIAC Tournament to finish their season. Head coach Ryan Kelley is the program's winningest coach (307-214-1) and is set to begin his 11th season as WSU's leader.

Offensively, the Warriors will lean on senior captain catcher Justin Kelly, who begins the season nine home runs shy of matching the program record. Last season, he was a First Team All-GLIAC selection after hitting .304 with 11 home runs, 46 RBI and a .596 slugging percentage. Other notable returners include sophomore Jacob Finkbeiner, senior Tristen Jorah and sophomore Michael MacLean.

On the mound, juniors Hunter Brown and Richard Hovde appear ready to lead the rotation as seniors Addison PawelekTyler Waldrop and junior Josh Nelson will also see their share of starts. Seniors Brendan Wetmore and Nick Cowen plus junior Dillon McInerney will be the go-to arms out of the bullpen.
