2019 Northern Michigan Preview

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University Volleyball team is excited to get started this season and look to achieve their fifth-straight winning season.

The Wildcats will be led by two-time All-GLIAC performer, senior Sarah Kuehn (Green Bay, Wis.). Kuehn will return as a team captain after leading the team with a total of 107 blocks and second on the team with 276 kills. The senior posted a .281 hitting percentage to lead the way among players with over 100 kills.

Also returning to the team will be junior Leticia Antunes (Florianopolis, Brazil). Antunes notched 221 kills along with 253 dig. Her 2.70 kills and 3.09 digs per set were both second on the team last year. She will be joined by sophomore Alli Yacko (Oak Lawn, Ill.) who paced the team with 33 aces during her rookie campaign.

NMU will turn to sophomore Abby Fortune (Appleton, Wis.) as the team’s setter. Fortune appeared in 17 sets through her first season as a Wildcat and tallied 41 assists.

 The team will also be bringing in talented newcomers who look to fill immediate rolls. NMU will look to fuse their returning talent with talented newcomers to continue their winning ways.
