    BAY CITY, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University's senior catcher Ryan Webber (Clio, Mich./Powers Catholic) and Grand Valley State University' sophomore pitcher Kyle Schepel (Grand Rapids, Mich./G.R. Christian) have been chosen as the GLIAC Baseball "Player of the Week" and "Pitcher of the Week," respectively it was announced by the league office.

    Bay City, Mich.--The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced today the Spring 2009 All-Academic Teams. 564 student-athletes from twelve institutions were honored in the following sports; baseball, softball, men and women's golf, men's tennis and men and women's outdoor track and field. To be eligible for all-academic status, the student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0, on a 4.0 scale, and must not be a freshman or first year transfer.

    The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced the Spring 2009 recipients of the GLIAC Commissioner’s Awards for Academic and Athletic Excellence. The awards, sponsored by Meijer, Incorporated, are presented after the Fall, Winter, and Spring athletic seasons to six male and six female student-athletes that excel both in the classroom and on the fields of play. The Awards were announced in conjunction with the release of the GLIAC Spring All-Academic Teams in which student-athletes were honored for their efforts.
