Ashland's Schaly Named ABCA President for 2012

Mt. Pleasant, Mich. -- Ashland University baseball coach John Schaly has been named president of the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).

Schaly is the president for 2012 and will serve a one-year term.  The ABCA is 68 years old and Schaly is just the fourth president to come from the NCAA Division II ranks. The AU head coach has served as a vice-president of the organization for the last three years.

The ABCA includes coaches from around the baseball world. It includes high school, college and junior college coaches.

This coming season will be Schaly’s 15th at Ashland. His record with the Eagles is 547-251-1. In 24 years as a college head coach Schaly is 910-469-1.

Last season, the Eagles were 30-21, 19-15 in the GLIAC.
