BAY CITY, Mich. - Walsh University senior catcher Mike Lee (Barberton, Ohio/Barberton) and Grand Valley State University junior pitcher Evan Neitfeldt (Homewood, Ill.) have been chosen as the GLIAC Baseball  "Player of the Week" and  "Pitcher of the Week", respectively.

Walsh University senior catcher Mike Lee hit .632 (12-16) in Walsh six GLIAC wins over Northwood University and the University of Findlay. Lee hit two homers, two doubles and drove in 10 runs, while also scoring six runs. Lee was 3-3 with two doubles and a homer in win over Northwood in the first game of a double header on Wednesday. He hit a three-run homer against Northwood in the final game of Walsh’s three-game sweep. Mike had three hits in game one of the Findlay series, and three hits and two RBI in the final game of the Findlay series.

Grand Valley State junior Evan Nietfeldt was spectacular in two starts last week, registering a 0.00 ERA in 13.2 innings of work, going 1-0 with only six hits allowed and six strikeouts, holding hitters to a .128 batting average. Against Tiffin, Nietfeldt went 4.2 innings and allowed only two hits after carrying a no-hitter in to the fifth inning. Against Ohio Dominican, Nietfeldt twirled a nine-inning, four-hit shutout in only 89 pitches, striking out four with no walks, allowing only two runners to reach second base in the game.
