BAY CITY, Mich. - Grand Valley State University senior first baseman Giancarlo Brugnoni (Grosse Pointe, Mich./De La Salle) and Saginaw Valley State University junior pitcher Andrew Geese (Saginaw, Mich./Carrollton) have been chosen as the GLIAC Baseball "Player of the Week" and "Pitcher of the Week", respectively.

Grand Valley State senior Giancarlo Brugnoni was a commanding
presence at the plate last week, instrumental in the Lakers going
4-1 and holding on to the GLIAC lead in the standings. Brugnoni hit
.643 (9-for-14) with an outstanding 1.143 slugging percentage and
.762 on-base percentage. Brugnoni scored seven times, hit two home
runs, drove in 11 and drew seven walks, including two intentional
passes. Brugnoni went 3-for-3 with two runs, three RBI and a double
against SVSU, then followed that game with a 3-for-3, two-run, six
RBI performance against Walsh with two home runs.

Saginaw Valley State University junior Andrew Geese threw a
complete game in the Cardinals’ victory in game one of their
weekend series with Malone. The junior lefty allowed one
earned run in his seven innings, striking-out five while scattering
six hits. Geese leads the GLIAC in strikeouts-per-game with
10.80 and is second in total strikeouts with 42. His 2.57 ERA
ranks him 10th in the league and his 11.89 strikeouts-per-nine
innings ranked him 10th in the nation as of April 7th.
