MARSHALL, Minn. – Junior right hander Ryan Colegate (Centerville, Ohio) was named to the Daktronics All-America Second Team on Friday, becoming the first Ohio Dominican baseball player to earn All-American honors at the Division II level.

Colegate earned a trio of Midwest Region Pitcher of the Year honors last week and was also recognized as the GLIAC Pitcher of the Year earlier this month.

He finished the season with a 9-1 record and a 1.98 ERA in 72.2 innings pitched. He went at least six innings in every start minus one shortened by weather, and only allowed more than one earned run in two starts this season.

Colegate also had seven starts of one or fewer walks this season, issuing just a total of 15 free passes on the year.

He threw a complete game shutout against No. 18 Grand Valley State on March 22, allowing just two hits while striking out eight, and allowed six or fewer hits in eight starts this spring.

Colegate struck out a season-high nine batters in six shutout innings in his first start of the year against St. Xavier on March 7, allowing just three hits. He punched out seven batters while allowing just one run in wins over Malone on April 4 and Walsh on April 25.

The nine wins in a season are the most by a Panther pitcher since David Colopy registered 11 in 2008, and his ERA is the lowest by a starter since Jonathan Kountis had a 1.49 mark in 2007.

Ohio Dominican finished the season with a 30-18 mark overall, tying for third in the GLIAC regular season standings.
