GLIAC Baseball Athletes of the Week - Week 11

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced its final weekly baseball awards for the 2016 season. Findlay sophomore Colin Gossard captured GLIAC North Division Pitcher of the Week honors, while Hillsdale junior Ethan Wiskur collected GLIAC North Division Player of the Week accolades. In the South Division, Ashland junior Mike Gentile garnered GLIAC Pitcher of the Week distinction along with Lake Erie senior Cale Giddings who was named GLIAC Player of the Week.

Colin Gossard Findlay Pitcher So.

Highlights: Findlay sophomore Colin Gossard earned his first win of the year in his last start as he allowed just two hits and one run over eight innings against the GLIAC CO-Champion, Ashland Eagles. Gossard struck out a career-high 12 batters in the game. He finishes the season with a team-leading 3.15 ERA.

Pitcher of the Week - South Division

Highlights: Ashland junior Mike Gentile made his fourth start of 2016 on Friday (May 6) at Findlay, and improved to 2-1 thanks to seven shutout innings against the Oilers. He allowed five hits and a walk and struck out eight, lowering his season earned-run average to 2.70.

Player of the Week - North Division

Ethan Wiskur
Hillsdale First Base Jr.
Highlights: Hillsdale junior Ethan Wiskur had a huge series against Walsh, batting .600 with 2 home runs during the final weekend of the regular season. He had three hits in each end of Sunday's doubleheader against the Cavaliers, hitting home runs in the second and third games of the series. He had a slugging percentage of 1.067 over the weekend's four games, and his 74 hits for the season are the second-most in a single season in school history.
Player of the Week - South Division
Cale Giddings Lake Erie First Base Sr.
Highlights: Lake Erie senior Cale Giddings recorded six home runs, 17 runs batted in on 16 hits and 12 runs scored to the tune of a .667 batting average on the week going 16-for-24 as the Storm went 4-2 to close out the year. During the week, Giddings record one five-hit game, one five-RBI contest and two games where he homered twice.
