LOUISVILLE, Ohio –- The Walsh University baseball team recently continued its partnership with Louisville Elementary School to read to read to third graders in an event sponsored by the 2nd and 7 Foundation. The Cavaliers read to students on Thursday, Jan. 21, and will go back on March 31 and another date in May.

The event was once again organized by Toni (Pizzino) Baker and Michelle Biery. Students in the nine classrooms wore their favorite sports gear while the Cavaliers baseball players read "The Hog Mollies and Sloopy the Silver Snake" written by the 2nd & 7 Foundation and illustrated by Jason Tharp. The book features a theme on bullying and how to help kids who are being bullied.

Baker is a Walsh alumna who played on the women's basketball national championship team in 1997-98.

The mission of the 2nd & 7 Foundation is to promote reading by providing free books and positive role models to kids in need while encouraging young athletes in the community to pay it forward. Local high school, collegiate, and professional athletes participate as a way to give back to their communities by reading "Hog Mollies" books to students across the country. It was founded by Luke Fickell, Ryan Miller and Mike Vrabel.

In May, the team will ready "Big Birthday Bash"with a final party with a sports theme throughout school all day.
