BAY CITY, Mich. -- Day two at the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Baseball Tournament is in progress at the Athletes in Action Sports Complex in Xenia, Ohio. Friday action kicked off with No. 6 Hillsdale surviving a thriller as they eliminated No. 2 Wayne State from the tournament.

GAME 1: No. 6 Hillsdale def. No. 2 Wayne State, 11-8 | BOX SCORE

Recap: Wayne State entered the ninth inning with an 8-7 advantage over Hillsdale and had not lost a game this season when entering the final frame with the lead. Hillsdale snapped the trend with a four spot thanks to RBI singles from Ryan O'Hearn and Steven Ring while Colin Boerst ripped a 2-run double to left center on the first pitch to stave off elimination. Ethan Wiskur, Boerst and O'Hearn all registered three hits apiece in the victory with Wiskur and Boerst driving in three runs each to lead the Chargers. Justin Kelly paced Wayne State with three RBIs, while Griffin Harms scored three times, including a big go-ahead 2-run home run to left in the bottom of the eighth to temporarily give WSU the edge. A Walsh win over Northwood means Hillsdale would face Walsh on Saturday, while a Northwood victory would pit the loser of GVSU & Tiffin against the Chargers on Saturday.

GAME 2: No. 1 Northwood def. No. 4 Walsh, 2-1 | BOX SCORE

Recap: Northwood's Javier Martinez homered for the second straight day to give the Timberwolves an early 1-0 advantage after two inning of action in a tight back-and-forth battle with Walsh. In the fourth, Robert Spencer extended the NU lead to 2-0 with a bases loaded base on balls to plate David Vinsky. Walsh attempted a comeback in the top half of the eighth when Andrew Stalnaker ripped a single to center field to bring Marcus Bobb in to score and cut the Cavs deficit in half. However, Northwood starting pitcher Ian Dimitrie slammed the door on WU going 1-2-3 in the ninth to cap a complete game victory on the mound allowing just six hits and one earned run while striking out three to just one walk.

GAME 3: No. 3 Tiffin def. No. 5 Grand Valley State, 4-3 | BOX SCORE

Summary: Tiffin struck first in the top of the first with a fielder's choice RBI from Alec McCurry before Grand Valley State answered back in the second with an RBI single off the bat of Johnny Nate to score Austin LaDoux. The Lakers went up a pair in the fifth when Keith Browning connected on a 2-run home run that crept over the left field wall to score Nate. The resilient Dragons fought back immediately with three runs in the bottom half of the frame with a sacrifice fly from Kyle Lento before Jay Smith ripped a 2-run double to center bringing around Kurt Barbeau and Brayden Callihan to score.
