Saginaw Valley's Brooks Earns NCBWA National Hitter of the Week Honors

DALLAS, Texas -- Saginaw Valley State University freshman Cole Brooks has garnered some more recognition, being named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) National Hitter of the Week. 

Brooks, who was named the GLIAC Player of the Week and Midwest Region's top hitter for the week, had a stellar performance for the Cardinals. He hit .567, going 17-for-30. Brooks drilled five home runs, adding four doubles, a triple and 20 RBI. He had an on-base percentage of .667 and slugged 1.267. The highlight of the week was his 4-4 effort against Tiffin on Monday, including two home runs, a double and eight RBI.

The Cardinals are back in action this weekend, as they host Wayne State University in a four-game series at the SVSU Baseball Complex. Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 1 pm while the teams return to the diamond on Sunday for another two games, beginning at noon.
