WSU's Waldrop, ODU's Kaucher Gain GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week Accolades

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly baseball awards following week two of the 2017 campaign. Ohio Dominican sophomore catcher Colin Kaucher earned GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week honors, while Wayne State sophomore Tyler Waldrop captured Pitcher of the Week accolades.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Colin Kaucher, Ohio Dominican

Ohio Dominican sophomore catcher Colin Kaucher went 4-for-5 with a homer, two doubles and 5 RBIs in season-opening win over West Liberty. Kaucher’s home run was second of his career and he set a career high in hits and RBIs. Kaucher registered a hit in each of ODU's final two games against Hilltoppers as well on his way to hitting .500 on the week and slugging .917. He ranks third in the GLIAC in RBIs in just three games and is fifth in batting average and slugging percentage. Kaucher caught the first two games and made first career start in right field in finale. West Liberty was ranked No. 10 in Atlantic Region entering the weekend.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Tyler Waldrop, Wayne State

Wayne State sophomore Tyler Waldrop baffled St. Joseph's on Friday to earn his first victory of the season. The right-hander did not allow a hit over five and a 1/3 innings. The only baserunner came via a walk, while he struck out five batters.
