Hillsdale's Ring, Tiffin's Fraley Tabbed GLIAC Baseball Players of the Week

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly baseball awards following week three of the 2017 campaign. Hillsdale sophomore catcher Steven Ring earned GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week honors, while Tiffin junior Luke Fraley captured Pitcher of the Week accolades.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Steven Ring, Hillsdale

Hillsdale sophomore catcher Steven Ring had a monster weekend for the Charger baseball team, batting .467 with 4 home runs and 9 runs batted in during the team's four-game series at McKendree. He had a slugging percentage of 1.400 while going 7-for-15 at the plate and scoring seven runs. He currently leads the GLIAC with 5 home runs, ranks second with 13 runs batted in and leads the conference with 32 total bases.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Luke Fraley, Tiffin

Tiffin University's Luke Fraley had Wheeling Jesuit's number this past week, beating the Cardinals 3-2 and 5-2. Fraley was one out away from a complete game on February 27, going 6 2/3 innings, allowing two runs, no earned runs, and struck out five in a 3-2 victory. On March 3, he went back to the mound to face Wheeling once more, dominating the Cardinals in a relief appearance. Luke hurled five innings, not allowing a base runner, and striking out six. Overall, Fraley threw 11 2/3 innings, allowing zero earned runs, six hits, one walk, and punched out 11.
