Ashland's Slavik, Saginaw Valley's Fitzgibbon Named GLIAC Baseball Players of the Week

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly baseball awards following week seven of the 2017 campaign. Saginaw Valley sophomore Adam Fitzgibbon earned GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week honors, while Ashland sophomore Chris Slavik captured Pitcher of the Week accolades.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Adam Fitzgibbon, Saginaw Valley

Saginaw Valley sophomore center fielder Adam Fitzgibbon had a stellar weekend in leading the Cardinals to a 3-1 record at Lake Erie. He hit .786, going 11-14 with a home run, four doubles, five RBI, three walks and six runs scored. He posted an .824 on-base percentage and 1.286 slugging percentage. 


PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Chris Slavik, Ashland

Ashland sophomore Chris Slavik authored a nine-inning complete-game one-hit shutout on April 2 at home against Walsh, striking out seven and walking five. Slavik also threw a scoreless inning of relief on March 29 in a win at Cedarville.
