Saginaw Valley's Swiss, Schwellenbach Claim GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week Accolades

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly baseball awards following the start of the 2018 campaign. Saginaw Valley junior infielder Jordan Swiss earned GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week honors, while Saginaw Valley sophomore Mason Schwellenbach captured Pitcher of the Week accolades to give the Cardinals the sweep.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Jordan Swiss, Saginaw Valley

Saginaw Valley junior infielder Jordan Swiss got off to a hot start for the Cardinals in a weekend series against Hillsdale. Swiss hit .615, going 8-for-13 with three doubles, four RBI and a trio of walks. He added a steal while slugging .846 on the weekend. 


PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Mason Schwellenbach, Saginaw Valley

Saginaw Valley sophomore Mason Schwellenbach went 1-0 on the mound, collecting a victory in the final game of the Cardinals' series against Hillsdale. Schwellenbach worked 5.0 innings, allowing just a single earned run while striking-out eight batters. Schwellenbach's eight K's are a new career-high.
