Northwood's Jandron & Vinsky Sweep GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly baseball awards following week five of the 2018 campaign. Northwood sophomore outfielder David Vinsky earned GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week honors, while Northwood senior hurler Tyler Jandron captured Pitcher of the Week accolades after a perfect 5-0 week for the Timberwolves.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK - David Vinsky, Northwood

Northwood sophomore outfielder David Vinsky had a outstanding week at the plate in Florida, batting .545 in five games. He had 12 hits, four doubles and eight RBIs in the five contests, all of which Northwood won. Vinsky had least two hits in four of the five games and nine of his last 10 games. He now leads the GLIAC in batting average on the year (.507) and moved into third on the NU career doubles list (37) just 18 games into his sophomore season.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Tyler Jandron, Northwood

Northwood senior hurler Tyler Jandron had an outstanding start and was a key part in Northwood's 5-1 win over No. 6 West Chester during their spring break trip. He allowed three hits (all singles) and one unearned run in eight innings of work while striking out seven. He lowered his ERA to a GLIAC-best 0.65 on the season in the victory. West Chester is the defending Division II National Champion.
