Ashland's Smith and Grand Valley's Cintorino receive Week 4 baseball awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly baseball awards following Week 4 of the 2019 season. Ashland sophomore outfielder/third baseman Dillan Smith earned GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week honors, while Grand Valley State junior Cade Cintorino captured Pitcher of the Week accolades.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Dillan Smith - Ashland

Sophomore outfielder/third baseman Dillan Smith (Pickerington, Ohio) batted .533 (8-of-15 with seven RBI, three doubles, one triple and a .579 on-base percentage as the Eagles were 5-2 for the week in Kissimmee, Fla. He was 2-for-4 against Cedarville, Northern State and Notre Dame (Ohio). Defensively, he recorded seven putouts and one assists with no errors.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Cade Cintorino - Grand Valley State

Junior left-hander Cade Cintorino (Grand Rapids, Mich.) tossed a pair of complete-game shutouts en route to a 2-0 week against traditional regional participants Seton Hill and West Chester. Cintorino tallied seven strikeouts and did not allow an extra-base hit among the four collected by Seton Hill, which lost 2-0 to the Lakers in Kissimmee, Fla. He followed that outing with an 11 strikeout, five-hit performance during a 7-0 victory over West Chester as he lowered his ERA to 1.59.
