WSU's MacLean and PNW's Haczynski claim Week 6 baseball honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly baseball awards following Week 6 of the 2019 season. Wayne State sophomore Michael MacLean earned GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week honors, while Purdue Northwest sophomore Brandon Haczynski captured Pitcher of the Week accolades.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Michael MacLean - Wayne State

Sophomore Michael MacLean (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) hit .500 (7-for-14) as Wayne State went 4-1 this past week, including winning three of four against Grand Valley State to begin the GLIAC schedule. He finished the week with two home runs, five RBI, two doubles, seven walks and 14 total bases. MacLean posted a .682 on-base percentage and 1.000 slugging percentage. Playing left field and first base, he did not make an error in 20 total chances.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Brandon Haczynski - Purdue Northwest

Sophomore Brandon Haczynski (Crown Point, Ind.) recorded seven strikeouts and threw a complete-game, seven-inning shutout against Northwood Saturday afternoon. He gave up four hits and no walks in the 6-0 victory. Haczynski improved to 2-1.
