WSU Brown and NU's Palmer claim final baseball POTW honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly baseball awards following Week 12 of the 2019 season. Northwood senior Nick Palmer earned GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week honors, while Wayne State junior Hunter Brown captured Pitcher of the Week accolades for the third time this season.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Hunter Brown - Wayne State

Junior Hunter Brown (St. Claire Shores, Mich.) improved to 9-0 with seven innings of shutout baseball on Friday as the Warriors took three of fourth from Saginaw Valley State. He struck out eight batters and allowed one hit. Brown dropped his season ERA to 1.82 and has struck out 100 batters so far this season. 
 

PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Nick Palmer - Northwood

Senior outfielder/catcher Nick Palmer (Warren, Mich.) had a big week ar the plate for Northwood, batting .588 with two home runs and eight RBIs in four games at Grand Valley State. He had at least one RBI in all four games and had three or more hits in three of the four games. For the week, he had a .941 slugging percentage. Palmer currently leads the GLIAC in RBIs (56) while standing fifth in batting average (.376).
