GLIAC - Ashland is ranked fourth, Northwood sixth and Grand Valley State eighth in the 2019 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Pre-Season Midwest Region Poll, which was announced Tuesday.
The Eagles were 33-22 last season, while the defending Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament champion Timberwolves were 38-16. GVSU finished 28-23. Wayne State also received votes, and Bellarmine was tabbed as the region's top team.
Ashland junior designated hitter Carson Mittenmaier, Northwood junior outfielder David Vinsky and senior relief pitcher Lennon Gwizdala, and GVSU senior outfielder Jacob Gleason were named to the Midwest Region Pre-Season First Team.
GVSU junior first baseman Ryan Blake-Jones, Davenport senior third baseman Alex Huard and Ashland senior starting pitcher Devin Peters were named to the second team.
