DU's Harvey, NU's Clark Earn Baseball Weekly Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its final weekly baseball awards of the 2021 Baseball season. Davenport senior Travis Harvey was awarded Player of the Week honors, while Northwood freshman Derek Clark was awarded Pitcher of the Week accolades.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Travis Harvey, Davenport

Harvey had a remarkable series against Parkside as the Panthers wrapped up their first GLIAC Championship with a four-game sweep of the Rangers. DU ran its winning streak to 10 games due in large part to Harvey's blistering .688 batting average with 11 hits in 16 at-bats for the weekend. He clobbered two doubles and two triples and drove in nine runs. He also scored seven times and walked twice with no strikeouts. He was also stellar in the field with 15 assists including one that started the first recorded triple play in DU history in Sunday's win. Harvey set season highs with four hits in game two on Saturday and three runs scored in game one on Saturday. He also had a season-high seven infield assists in game two on Saturday. He also has recorded an RBI in 10 consecutive games entering the GLIAC Tournament.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Derek Clark, Northwood

Freshman Derek Clark, normally a starter, came out of the bullpen with Northwood trailing 5-3 in the second inning of a nine inning contest and proceeded to toss 7 1/3 shutout innings to lead the Timberwolves to a 6-5 win. He allowed two hits while striking out six. Clark is currently tied for the GLIAC lead in wins (7) while standing second in strikeouts (62). This is the second time this season Clark has been named the GLIAC Pitcher of the Week.
