BAY CITY, Mich. - This weekend features a matchup between two teams undefeated in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play. This is also the second weekend in a row where both teams ranked in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Top 25 poll will play away from home.
Wayne State University (4-0, 3-0), No. 9 in the latest AFCA Division II Top 25 poll, will make a trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula to play Northern Michigan University (3-1, 2-1) on Saturday (4:00 p.m.). The Warriors defeated Ohio Dominican University last week 31-24 in Columbus, with Northern Michigan taking their first loss of the season last week at Ashland University 45-16. Last season Wayne State defeated Northern Michigan 26-18 in Detroit.
The GLIAC's other nationally ranked team, No. 24 Hillsdale
College (3-1, 3-0), travels to Saginaw Valley State University
(3-0, 3-0) on Saturday (7:00 p.m.). Hillsdale is coming off a 35-26
road win over Lake Erie College last week. The Cardinals beat
Northwood University at home 28-20 a week ago to claim the "Axe
Bowl." In 2010 Hillsdale captured a 35-21 victory at home over
Saginaw Valley State.
