BAY CITY, Mich. - The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) football weekend gets underway early this week with a nationally televised Thursday night game. Saturday will feature 2010 GLIAC South Division Co-Champions squaring off against one another.
Ashland University (5-2, 5-1), ranked for the first time this season in the AFCA Division II Top 25 at No. 23, will travel to Saginaw Valley State University (4-2, 4-2) Thursday night (8:00 p.m.) for the CBS Sports Network D-II Football “Game of the Week.” Ashland is coming off a 20-17 home win over Wayne State University last week. The Cardinals traveled to the University of Indianapolis last week and came away with a 29-20 loss.
Wayne State (6-1, 5-1), No. 17 in the latest AFCA Division II
Top 25 poll, will travel to Hillsdale College (5-2, 5-1) on
Saturday (1:30 p.m.) for a crucial South Division showdown. The
Warriors lost at Ashland last week 20-17, while Hillsdale won at
Michigan Technological University 13-7. Last season Wayne State
beat Hillsdale 14-9 in Detroit as both teams finished with 8-2
GLIAC records on their way to sharing the GLIAC South Division
Crown.
