PAINESVILLE, Ohio – For the second straight year, the sky above Jack Britt Memorial Stadium will be lit up on a Saturday night.  First, by the lights from the stadium as the Lake Erie College football team takes on Saginaw Valley State University.  Then, following the game, by a spectacular fireworks display as part of the second annual Football and Fireworks Extravaganza presented by Gas Natural.

This year’s event, set for Saturday, Sept. 17 will once again feature a display by American Fireworks, Inc.,  the company that produces shows for the Lake County Captains, Altoona Curve, Cleveland Orchestra Summer Series at Blossom and the Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremonies among others.

Fireworks will follow the Storm’s Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) showdown with the visiting Saginaw Valley State Cardinals, which kicks off at 7 p.m.

"This is going to be another exciting night for Storm Athletics, Lake Erie College, the City of Painesville and the surrounding community," said Assistant Director of Athletics for External Operations Jason Tirotta.  "Last year’s event was a huge success and the show put on by American Fireworks is second to none. We anticipate an exciting game and an awesome fireworks display. It'll be a great night for families to come out and have some fun."

Last year’s Football & Fireworks brought over 2,400 fans to Britt Stadium to see the Storm play Wayne State University, which was at the time an attendance record for a varsity college football game at the stadium.

The game is the second of six home games for the Storm in 2011, including three night games.  The Storm won its opener, 13-10, over traditional rival Gannon University in the Battle for Lake Erie on Thursday night, Sept. 1, in front of 3,169 fans at Britt Stadium.

Tickets for the game, which are just $10 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens, are available at the gate.  The fireworks show will begin approximately 10 minutes after conclusion the game.

The game will also be broadcast live on ESPN 970 WFUN-AM and www.LakeErieStorm.com with Craig Deas (play-by-play) and Mark Richards (analyst) on the call.  The pregame show will begin at 6:50 p.m.
