Midland, Mich. --  Northwood University will be hosting Children’s Cancer Awareness day Saturday (September 10) at Hantz Stadium in correlation with the football game. Kickoff is scheduled for Noon.

There are a number of activities revolved around this new event for Northwood football:

- The team has invited 16 kids who are battling cancer and their families to the game.  A Northwood player has been assigned to each of these kids.  The player will email their kid a note in advance, wishing them well and inviting them to the game.  The player will also write a note for them to pick up when they arrive.  After the game will have the kids come onto the field to meet their player and to have a photo taken with the team.

- Northwood Head Coach Mike Sullivan will meet with the kids before the game.

 - A cancer survivor who goes to CMU coming to talk to the team on Friday evening to tell his story and inspire the team.

- There will be a young cancer survivor singing the national anthem.

- There will be gold bracelets and gold wrapped Hershey kisses given away to all fans to support Childhood Cancer Awareness.

- A clown will be coming to the pre-game kid's zone, as well as a face-painting, and Henna painting.  There will also be a bounce house and other kid’s activities.

- At halftime, there will be a Hope Has Wings event where we release a chest full of butterflies as a symbol of hope for children battling cancer.

- Throughout the game, Tackle Childhood Cancer t-shirts will be thrown into the crowd.
