Lake Erie's Brendan Gallagher Named GLIAC Football "Offensive Player of the Week"

BAY CITY, Mich. - Lake Erie College senior quarterback Brendan Gallagher (Aurora, Ohio / Aurora) was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) "Offensive Player of the Week" after throwing for a school-record 563 yards and six touchdowns in the Storm's shootout with Malone University on Saturday.  Walsh University junior linebacker Cameron Trudell (Columbus, Ohio/Walnut Ridge) earned "Defensive Player of the Week Honors," while Ohio Dominican University sophomore kicker Brent Wahle (Pataskala, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) was tabbed "Special Teams Player of the Week."

GLIAC Football Offensive Player of the Week:
Brendan Gallagher - Lake Erie

(SR, QB, 6-1, 185, Aurora, Ohio / Aurora)

Lake Erie College senior quarterback Brendan Gallgher Completed 35-of-42 passes for a school, single-game record 563 yards and six touchdowns in the Storm’s shootout at Malone.  Gallagher’s performance helped lead the Storm to a GLIAC record 833 yards of total offense.  He had two touchdown passes over 60 yards in breaking a pair of school records previously held by Sean Bedevelsky (441 yards, 5 TD).  It was the second time this season Gallagher threw for over 400 yards in a game and the third time this year he has had three or more touchdowns.

GLIAC Football Defensive Player of the Week:
Cameron Trudell - Walsh

(JR, LB, 5-10, 234, Columbus, Ohio/Walnut Ridge)

Walsh University junior linebacker Cameron Trudell had a big day in the Cavaliers’ 14-6 loss to Ashland University on Saturday (Oct. 19). Trudell had 12 tackles, three tackles-for-loss for seven yards, forced one fumble and recovered two fumbles on the day, as the Walsh defense limited Ashland to just 362 yards of total offense and just 109 yards through the air. Trudell currently ranks 15th in the GLIAC in tackles per game (8.7), is tied for second in fumbles recovered and ranks 30th in tackles for loss (4.5).

GLIAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week:
Brent Wahle - Ohio Dominican

(SO, K, 6-2, 175, Pataskala, Ohio/Bishop Hartley)

Ohio Dominican University sophomore kicker Brent Wahle, NCAA Division II’s top kicker, added two more field goals to his 2013 football resume in the Panthers’ 41-21 win over the University of Findlay on Thursday in the CBS Sports Network D-II Game of the Week.  Wahle now has 14 field goal makes on the season, a school record. He also made five PATs during the game and is now a perfect 30-for-30 on PAT attempts this season. Wahle leads all GLIAC kickers in scoring with 72 points this season, 20 points more than second place.
