SVSU's Jonathon Jennings Named GLIAC Football "Offensive Player of the Week"

BAY CITY, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University senior quarterback Jonathon Jennings (Columbus, Ohio/Westerville South) was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) "Offensive Player of the Week" after throwing 541 yards passing on 28 completions to go along with seven touchdowns in the Cardinals’ 47-34 victory over Hillsdale College on Saturday. Grand Valley State University sophomore defensive lineman DeOndre Hogan (Livonia, Mich./Clarenceville) earned "Defensive Player of the Week Honors," while Tiffin University sophomore kick returner Stefan Willis (Akron, Ohio/Firestone) was tabbed "Special Teams Player of the Week."

GLIAC Football Offensive Player of the Week:
Jonathon Jennings  - Saginaw Valley State

(SR, QB, 6-2, 205, Columbus, Ohio)

Saginaw Valley State University senior QB Jonathon Jennings posted a school-record 541 yards passing on 28 completions to go along with seven touchdowns in the Cardinals’ 47-34 victory over Hillsdale College on Saturday. The previous mark for touchdown passes in a game at SVSU was five.  Jennings connected with senior wide out Jeff Janis 15 times in the game for a school-record 331 yards and a school-record tying four touchdowns. Jennings has broken the GLIAC career record passing yards (8,722) currently leads the GLIAC in passing yards per game (307.5) and TD passes (23).

GLIAC Football Defensive Player of the Week:
DeOndre Hogan - Grand Valley State

(SO, DL, 6-2, 255, Livonia, Mich./Clarenceville)

Grand Valley State sophomore defensive lineman DeOndre Hogan tallied eight tackles (3 solo/5 assisted), three tackles for loss (-15), two quarterbacks (-13) and a pass deflection as Grand Valley State claimed a 23-17 GLIAC road win at Northwood University. Hogan was part of a defense that limited Northwood to 245 yards of total offense, including just 77 via the ground. The Laker defense limited the Timberwolves to 3.6 yards per play and 1.9 yards per rush.

GLIAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week:
Stefan Willis - Tiffin

(SO, DB/KR, 6-0, 185, Akron, Ohio/Firestone)

Tiffin University sophomore defensive back/kick returner Stefan Willis averaged 43.25 yards per kick return, as he totaled 173 yards in kick returns (177 all purpose yards), including an 87 yard kickoff return for a touchdown in Tiffin’s 30-29 loss to Walsh. Willis also had an interception in the game for the Dragons.  He currently lead the GLIAC in kick off return average with 31.7 yards per return.
