SVSU's Jonathon Jennings Earns Second Consecutive GLIAC Football "Offensive Player of the Week" Award

BAY CITY, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University senior quarterback Jonathon Jennings (Columbus, Ohio/Westerville South) was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) "Offensive Player of the Week" for the second consecutive time after rushing for four touchdowns and passing for three more in the Cardinals' 55-35 victory over Michigan Technological University on Saturday. Grand Valley State University sophomore defensive lineman DeOndre Hogan (Livonia, Mich./Clarenceville) earned "Defensive Player of the Week Honors," for the second straight week, while Walsh University freshman kick returner Jordan Phillips (Ft. Myers, Fla./Evangelical Christian) was tabbed "Special Teams Player of the Week."

GLIAC Football Offensive Player of the Week:
Jonathon Jennings  - Saginaw Valley State

(SR, QB, 6-2, 205, Columbus, Ohio)

Saginaw Valley State University senior QB Jonathon Jennings had another outstanding week in helping the Cardinals remain undefeated in GLIAC play after its 55-35 win at Michigan Tech last Saturday.  Jennings was 19-of-29 passing for 238 yards and three touchdowns.  He added a career-high four rushing touchdowns, making it seven total TD's for the game and 34 total in 2013.  Jennings leads the GLIAC with 26 touchdowns through the air and is second in passing yards (2,698) and yards-per-game (299.8).

GLIAC Football Defensive Player of the Week:
DeOndre Hogan - Grand Valley State

(SO, DL, 6-2, 255, Livonia, Mich./Clarenceville)

Grand Valley State sophomore defensive lineman DeOndre Hogan tallied three solo tackles and four assisted for a total of seven stops as the Lakers claimed a 31-21 victory over Hillsdale College. Hillsdale was held scoreless in the second half after going into the locker room with a 21-14 lead over the Lakers. Hogan also notched 2.5 QB sacks (-9), 2.5 tackles for loss (-9) and forced a fumble as GVSU held Hillsdale eight points below its season average. He also forced an intentional grounding that resulted in an 11 yard loss and forced a punt.

GLIAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week:
Jordan Phillips - Malone

(RFR, WR/KR, 5-10, 170, Ft. Myers, Fla./Evangelical Christian)

Pioneer wide receiver Jordan Phillips had huge afternoon, leading the Pioneers to a 59-42 non-conference victory at Alderson Broaddus University on Saturday after racking up just under 300 all-purpose yards and tallying four touchdowns, including a 95-yard kickoff return for a score. In all, Phillips posted 25 rushing yards and 53 receiving yards to go with a whopping 214 yards on five kickoff returns.  His 292 all-purpose yards marked the fifth-highest single-game all-purpose yardage total in Malone history while his 214 kickoff-return yards smashed the previous single-game school record of 161 yards.
