GLIAC Football Players of the Week - Week 11

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the final weekend of the regular season, Week 11. Tiffin senior quarterback Antonio Pipkin earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Northwood senior linebacker Michael Fisher captured GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors. Northwood junior Vashon Nutt claimed GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week accolades.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Antonio Pipkin, Tiffin

It was a record shattering day for Tiffin senior quarterback Antonio Pipkin in his final game as a Dragon, as TU won 56-7 over Northern Michigan. Pipkin totaled 497 yards of total offense with seven touchdowns (five passing, two rushing). He rushed for 205 yards on 11 carries (18.6 yards per rush) while passing for 292 yards on 27 of 29 passing (GLIAC Record 93.1 completion percentage) with no interceptions and no sacks. Pipkin shattered the GLIAC career passing mark, totaling 9671 yards to eclipse the 9546 of Jonathan Jennings of Saginaw Valley State. He led an offense that amassed 609 yards, which included junior wide receiver Charles Holland catching a GLIAC record 20 passes for 211 yards and three touchdowns.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Michael Fisher, Northwood

Northwood senior linebacker Michael Fisher wrapped up leading the GLIAC in tackles in the regular season for the third straight year with a memorable final game, finishing with 11 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and an interception he returned for a touchdown in Northwood's 41-13 road win over Walsh. He ended the year with 115 tackles this season, four more than any other player in the conference. Fisher's career total of 430 tackles, 58 more than any other player in NU history. 


SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Vashon Nutt, Northwood

Northwood junior Vashon Nutt had the key play of the game in Northwood's 41-13 road win over Walsh, After the Cavaliers scored a touchdown to cut the NU lead down to 17-13, Nutt returned the following kickoff 98 yards for a Northwood touchdown. Starting with that TD, the Timberwolves out-scored Walsh 24-0 the rest of the way. The 98-yard return is the third-longest in the GLIAC this season.
