2017 GLIAC Football Gameday - Week 2

BAY CITY, Mich. -- Week 2 of the 2017 GLIAC Football season is ready to roll. Game notes, audio, video and live stats links for nine GLIAC football contests on Saturday, Sept. 9 can be found below.

Tiffin earned a 58-7 victory over Lake Erie thanks to four touchdowns from running back Hunter Rockwell, while standout wide receiver Charles Holland racked up 150 yards on eight catches with two scores. Michigan Tech could not hold on to a 27-10 fourth quarter lead and eventually fell on the road at Hillsdale, 31-27, after the Chargers went ahead with just over one minutes in the contest. Saginaw Valley moved to 2-0 on the year after a 28-0 drubbing of Walsh. The Cardinals recorded 525 yards of offense while limiting the Cavs to just 129 total for the contest.

Wayne State dropped a heartbreaker at the buzzer to No. 18 Indianapolis 31-28 in a back-and-forth battle which featured four ties and three lead changes. No. 14 Grand Valley State overwhelmed GLIAC newcomer and crosstown rival Davenport 48-0 in Allendale as the Lakers held the Panthers to just 121 yards of total offense. Ashland earned a quality 47-21 victory over Ohio Dominican thanks to 563 yards of total offense propelled by Travis Tarnowski's 22-of-30 effort passing with 377 yards and two scores, while running back Andrew Vaughn racked up 124 yards and two score on the ground.

No. 2 Ferris State impressed in its first game of the 2017 campaign on its way to a 48-27 road win at Findlay. Quarterback Reggie Bell went 14-for-21 throwing for 206 yards along with a career-best 216 rushing yards and five total touchdowns as the Bulldogs amassed 653 yards of total offense. Northern Michigan fell 48-20 down in Texas at Angelo State as the Wildcats gave up 660 yards to the Rams despite a nice day from Jake Mayon who rushed for 205 yards.

In the final game of the night, Northwood earned a 47-34 road victory at Missouri S&T thanks in part to kicker David Riser's 17 points on 4-of-5 field goal tries and 5-for-5 extra point attempts. Running back Dominick Glovinazzo rushed for 107 yards and a score in the win as Northwood moved to 2-0.
