D2Football.com -- D2Football.com has released its 2017 Preseason Poll and All-American Teams prior to the start of the new season this week. Ferris State arrived at No. 2 in the preseason balloting, while Grand Valley State followed close behind at No. 3. The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) made it three teams inside the Top 25 as the Ashland Eagles rank No. 18.
Seven GLIAC standouts were named to the D2Football.com Preseason All-America Team, including First Team honorees in GVSU running back Marty Carter and Ferris State's defensive lineman Zach Sieler and defensive back Tavierre Thomas. FSU recorded two more Second Team recipients in offensive lineman Jake Daugherty and Devon Johnson, while Tiffin wide receiver Charles Johnson and GVSU linebacker Collin Schlosser were also named to the Second Team.
