2017 GLIAC Football Gameday - Week 6

BAY CITY, Mich. -- Week 6 of the 2017 GLIAC Football season is getting set. Game notes, audio, video and live stats links for five GLIAC football contests on Saturday, October 7 can be found below.

No. 15 Ferris State took down Tiffin by a 13-3 in a defensive battle between a pair of squads who are now 3-1 in the GLIAC. The contest was knotted at 3-3 at the half before Jahaan Brown took the game-winning score 34 yards from Travis Russell to paydirt at the 11:24 mark of the third quarter. FSU placekicker Wyatt Ford accumulated seven of the Bulldogs 13 points on a pair of field goals and an extra point.

No. 18 Ashland went up to Marquette and took care of business defeating Northern Michigan 38-13. The Eagles racked up 528 yards of total offense, including 29 first downs and 77 percent on 10-of-13 third-down conversions. AU senior quarterback Travis Tarnowski threw for 291 yards and a pair of scores, while Kamaron Green caught six balls for 106 yards.

Northwood moved to 3-3 on the year with a come-from-behind 29-24 victory over Michigan Tech. NU's Cory Burdgick gave the Timberwolves the lead with a 2-yard touchdown effort with 1:17 remaining. Eight different Northwood rushers accumulated 282 yards to earn the victory. Both teams ran the ball 47 times in the contest.

Saginaw Valley posted its second shutout of the season with a 33-0 win at home over Davenport. The Cardinals limited the Panthers to just 44 yards of total offense as the SVSU defense scored a pair of second half touchdowns on a fumble recovery in the endzone and a pick six.

In the nightcap, No. 8 Grand Valley State traveled to Detroit to face Wayne State and surged out to a 38-0 lead before the Warriors fought back to a 45-27 final decision. GVSU junior running back Marty Carter rushed for 218 yards on 11 carries and three touchdowns, including scoring runs of a GLIAC record tying 97, 68 and five yards.
