First Team
QB Jayru Campbell, Ferris State, Jr.
The GLIAC Player of the Year has made the most of his first season as FSU's starting quarterback, leading the Bulldogs to their first unbeaten regular-season and conference title since 2015. A Harlon Hill Trophy finalist, Campbell leads all quarterbacks nationally in rushing yardage and is among the nation's leaders in points responsible for, passing efficiency, scoring and total offense. The standout QB has completed 60 percent of his passes for 2,581 yards while running for a team-best 1,235 yards and 20 TD's to date. Behind his play, FSU earned a fifth-straight NCAA Division II Playoff appearance and claimed the Super Region Three Championship. Campbell has accounted for a nation-leading 45 touchdowns while helping FSU rank among the national leaders in total offense, rushing and scoring this season. Last week, Campbell was tabbed as the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Super Region Three Offensive Player of the Year.
DB Brian Williams, Davenport, Sr.
Williams, a senior safety and GLIAC Defensive Back of the Year, was also named First Team Super Region 3 by the Conference Commissioner's Association (CCA) in NCAA Division II. Williams is one of nine players from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to be named first team on offense and defense. The GLIAC received more first team performers than the other three conferences in the region (GAC, MIAA and GLVC). Williams emerged as someone with a nose for the football as evidenced by leading the GLIAC in interceptions for the second straight season. He picked off six passes and returned them 89 yards this season, while also being credited with six pass breakups. He is also known as a physical player in helping to stop the run with 43 tackles including 31 of the solo variety. Williams will leave DU with 139 career tackles and 13 career interceptions.
Second Team
OL Devon Johnson, Ferris State, Sr.
The GLIAC's Offensive Lineman of the Year has played a key role in helping the Bulldogs earn a fifth-straight NCAA Division II Playoff appearance. As the squad's starting left tackle, the NFL prospect made 51 consecutive starts for the Bulldogs prior to an injury in the regular-season finale, which represented a school all-time mark and was the longest streak by a Division II player in the past decade. Johnson has played a pivotal role for a Bulldog offense that ranks among the national leaders in scoring, rushing and total offense. As the backside protector for Harlon Hill Trophy finalist Jayru Campbell, Johnson earned All-GLIAC recognition for the third consecutive campaign as one of the squad's leaders up front and was an all-region first team choice.
DL James Prater Jr., Ashland, Sr.
This comes on the heels of Prater Jr. garnering first-team Super Region 3, GLIAC Defensive Lineman of the Year and first-team All-GLIAC honors. He also finished fifth in the finals of the vote for the Gene Upshaw Award, the Division II Senior Lineman of the Year. This past season, Prater Jr. was second in the GLIAC in sacks (9.5), tied for third in tackles for loss (15), and finished runner-up on the team with 65 total tackles (27 solo). He also broke up four passes.
